If you wire it correctly, the resistor set up will be fine.
You can also opt to replace the lock clylinder & the ignition key.
That is not super tough, just need to disassemble the steering coulmn. Need a lock plate removal tool etc. Can be a job if you've never done them before.
Just have to determain what # pass key your car is by testing the pellet resistance to get the properly coded keys.
CODE/RESISTOR VALUE IN OHMS
Code 1= 402 ohms resistance measured on the key pellet & so on;
