Just wondering if anyone has hooked one of these up to a LT1? I have everything wired, but the 3 color LED is stopping on (Yellow). Yellow supposedly means I have a problem with 12 volts (to be more specific, it states the pump has stopped pulling current and will display Yellow), but the pump is working even when this yellow light is on? It is suppose to come on for 2 seconds, red / yellow, and then go dark, indicating everything is fine. I have checked all the 12v connections and everything seems to be correct.
PS: Green is for a bad ground, but I have no problem with green or red, ( loss of power). It's just the Yellow LED that won't cooperate. Thanks for any input

I never ended up going with the EWP, just kept things simple.

I've actually had my Meziere electric pump on my LT1 for 7 or 8 years. I'm just now getting around to trying to hookup this watchdog

Might be something wrong with the unit itself then.
If it is post to just turn the LED on & then off after key on, it's just not going out then? I've seen the diagrams for these too, they use diodes & resistors, they can fail. Got a wiring diagram/direction manual? 4 wire or 5? |

It seems hard for me to believe anything is wrong with the unit (it was brand new in the package), guess that does not mean it could be bad, but unlikely? Yes, when you energize the ignition it goes to yellow, but never shuts off. Yes, it also has a nice heat-sinked diode block that is on the ground side. I have the wiring diagram and I could certainly take a pic and post it to this thread if you would like?

Ha, ha, I can get around when I'm trying to solve something
I honestly believe it has to be something simple. If I can figure it out, maybe I should bring the watchdog back to market This thing is pretty slick if I can make it function properly.

Yes post a pic of the wiring. Does it show the electronic componets as well?

Here is the wiring diagram that I marked all the text.

The way that diagrams looks from what I can tell is the main pump's ground is different than I've seen.
It looks like they want you to run the water pumps ground soley thru the sensing diode? Then splice it back to the main unit? The main box has the LED's or ? |

The main box has no LED's, just a small reset button. I have tried resetting the unit on 3 different occasions, and it has had no effect.
PS: Interesting thought on the ground. I had not thought about the diagram in that way. I may try to wire it and see what the results are produced? As a side note, I have never had the Green LED light up (Green is for a bad ground). I actually disconnected the ground of the green wire and the diode green wire, but it would not make the LED turn Green? I also had a friend suggest that my diode may be bad and it is allowing voltage to flow backwards. If this is so, it might explain why the yellow (sensing no current from the pump) LED is lighting up? Last edited by 96SilverRam; 07-29-2010 at 11:07 PM. |

What gauge wire does that sensing diode have on it?
It would have to be pretty large, that diagram leaves lots to be desired lol. Otherwise it wont handle the pump's amperage draw. I see a splice in there on the ground side of the pump before the diode, for what? |

The sensing diode has 14 gauge (approximately, maybe a little larger). My water pump has basically the same gauge on the ground. The splice is a little misleading from the diagram. A small 20/22 gauge green wire from the watchdog comes into the engine bay and gets spliced to the larger 14 gauge green wire coming from the diode and those two wire are grounded to the black negative wire on the water pump.
The diagram was the best I could do with a stupid Iphone ![]()

i had the same problem with the yellow light mine ended up being the heat sink looking thing that has the green wire into it. it wasnt soldered on correctly and not making a good connection. they sent me out a new one but that was yrs ago. im pretty sure there out of business now.
![]() When i get back to the garage ill look at the wiring and see how i have it wired up. Last edited by six spd 97; 07-31-2010 at 04:33 PM. Reason: more content |

Six spd 97,
That would be great if you could do that for me. I feel like I am so close to having this function perfect. Just need to push through the last little details. I was lucky enough to purchase a brand new in the box watchdog as a complete spare. Hopefully if I have a problem with said component I can just replace it from my other kit. I think they are definitely out of business. It would be nice if there was a way to contact the original owner/s. I bet they still have some brand new parts laying that could be sold for next to nothing?
